SGLEF SCHOLARSHIP

You are invited to apply for the Sea Gate Law Enforcement Foundation (SGLEF) Scholarship.

Any senior high school student who is a child or grandchild of a Sea Gate Police Department member or supporter of the SGLEF may apply for an award. Please note, this is a nonacademic award and it will be granted solely based on the submission of the essay as described in the instructions below.


Please take the time to carefully prepare the below application. Submissions that do not address all questions will not be considered. College enrollment is not a criterion for this award; The SGLEF sets the guidelines and criteria for these awards.


The essays will be judged by a panel comprised of the Board of Directors of the SGLEF. Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to the writer of the selected essay from two groups consisting of those submitted under the Sea Gate Police Department and by the supporters of the SGLEF.

Essay Requirements

Part 1: Briefly describe outside activities in which you have participated during your High School years including summers. Include employment or internship experience (include references), family activities, hobbies, and personal interests and major accomplishments. Also note if you have any conservation experience or interest. Any other information about yourself that the Panel should know about.

Part 2: Essay of at least 1,500 words on the importance of the 2nd Amendment as it was written and how it has evolved today. 

Part 3: Your information and your references as shown on the below application.
